SHAG
Born August 31st 1962 USAJosh Agle’s nickname ‘Shag’ is derived from the last two letters of his first name, and the first two letters of his last name.
Shag is a painter, designer and illustrator working in Southern California. His artwork is featured in countless magazines and has hung in galleries all around the world. His unique vibrant, colorful and striking retro lounge styled art is what Shag is most well known for.
Shag had his first solo gallery exhibition in 1997, and his first New York gallery show in 2002. Shag has also had successful solo exhibitions in Australia, Europe, Japan and the USA. Galleries and collectors find themselves attracted to the elegant, suave and sexy snap shots of key people caught in the moment surrounded by glamorous extravagance in the 50’s and 60’s.
